May 31 ~Norway in a Nutshell~

This tour was probably the highlight of our trip.  Everyone agreed that Norway was one if not the most beautiful countries that we visited.  We will have travelled by train, bus and ferry as we cross the lower part of Norway from Oslo, the present capitol, to Bergen, the former capitol.  We will be staying the night at a halfway point at a town called Flam.  I will let the photographs speak for themselves.
The train to Bergen

Leaving Oslo

Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, Lily is ready to go!

Ed and Peg, not so much!

The train stopped at this spot, the highest part of our trip

We had 3 minutes to take photos. When the whistle blew we knew it was time to board

At this stop we boarded a different train that took us down to the valley floor to the village of Flam.

The Flamsbana

Another stop.  This one was for a very wet waterfall.

Here there were some Viking ruins.  When we stopped we could hear music and a mermaid came out of the old dwelling to dance by the waterfall.

This was just the beginning of a multitude of waterfalls.

Entering Flam

The Family Hostel  where we stayed this evening.  Each room, we had 2, had two sets of bunk beds and it's own private bathroom.
