Our own private, Safari Transport

Southern White Rhino and her calf, born in January

The Dhole is an European red wolf that is about the size of our red fox.

Sichuan Takins, a mountain goat from China.

One of the cheetahs with her cubs from this year.

Luke and Mylee helping to mark some behaviors that they saw when the Onagers were running around our bus.

These onagers, a donkey found in the middle east, were circling our bus and Lily loved it.

Luke's favorite animals were these bactrian camels.

Today we took a trip to the Wilds in Zanesville. My sister came in from Atlanta on Sunday so I made her go along with us. Grandma Peg came and brought Luke and Lily's cousin Mylee. Peg and Trish had the tough part with 3 car seats in the back of their car while Judy and I drove separately. I wish it weren't quite so far, but for those of you who haven't been to the Wilds, it is certainly worth the drive. We all agreed to take the "climate controlled" bus over the "open air" Safari Transport, probably the best decision we made. As it was, we had the entire bus to ourselves. We saw rhinos, camels, Onagers, Przewalski's horses, Grevy's zebras, Takins, Giraffe, Cheetahs, African wild dogs, Dholes and various types of endangered deer. We had a great time and are excited to come back and maybe try out the new zip lines that are being built and scheduled to open by July 4th. The Wilds also offers horseback riding. To learn more about The Wilds visit their website at http://www.thewilds.org/ Tomorrow the plan is to take advantage of the tickets that I have to Zoombezi Bay.
