Double-crested Cormorant

This morning we awoke to another beautiful Florida day.  We sat out back for a while trying our best to get a tan in 60 minutes.  We watched a double-crested cormorant diving in our pond and searching for fish.  Sharon and I registered for a kayak tour that we take on Tuesday morning. We decided to ride down to the boat ramp where the tour begins just so we would know where it was. While we were there we also walked one of the boardwalk trails.  We saw tons of catbirds, snowy egrets, brown pelicans and the most interesting find of the day was a 9 banded armadillo.  As we were leaving we saw a tortoise crossing the road.  That definitely made Sharon's day!

We picked Betty and Andy up and rode into Naples and ate at Mel's Diner.  The meals were really good.  Betty had a chicken Parmesan sandwich, Sharon had prime rib, Andy had a fillet Mignon w/shrimp and I had Mel's famous baby back ribs.  We had a coupon for a free appetizer, french fried pickle chips.  Betty was the only one that liked them and she ate about 3/4s of them.  After dinner we drove to the beach at the end of 7th avenue and watched the sunset.  The beach was really nice and it was only a short walk from where we parked which made it even more perfect.  We took our chairs down and sat just watching the shore birds, listening to the surf and waiting for the sun to set.  It was very pretty but a cloud bank moved in and the sunset a little early.
